I love to paint people and it is a great honor to be asked to do so. My goal in portraiture is twofold: first, to create a painting that can exist on its own as a meaningful, visual work of art; and second, to capture the individual aspects of character to the best of my ability.

I offer many varieties of portraits. I paint “traditional” oil portraits, which involve layers of paint and can take several months to plan and complete and which often include photography sessions. I also paint extended session oil portraits from life in which the subject sits for me over the course of several days.

Oil “sketches” are oil paintings done in one sitting.

Portrait drawings are executed in graphite, charcoal, pastel pencil or other media, usually on paper.

Portraits are generally priced according to size and the percentage of the figure depicted in the portrait. Travel fees, shipping, framing and applicable taxes are not included in the price.
